Ha! I think I know what you felt. I sepnt some time in LA and have some shots of the city from the north. You picked up a very good spot! Very nice picture! The composition is very oniric (though classical) and the city has something special from here.
Getting out of LA is very particular I think, you don't feel out of it that much. This city is so infinite... Looks like you would need 300 miles before nature restarts to live normaly.
